Blind Ambition At The Rose Festival! I know it wasn't easy, the time we had, Our first two races, our starts were bad. We hung in there, and dug 'em deep, We still raced hard, not giving in to the heat. At the end of the day, We were where we wanted to be, Yee Gads, it looks like we made division 3! We knew just what we had to do, We had to place in position one or two! We went out there and gave it our all, When we left the line, we really started to haul! It felt like things were really going well, We finished with a time of 3:12! It was quite a bummer that we ended up in third place, There was no doubt, this was still our best race! between now and next year, we'll improve more and more, Won't it be nice to cut that time down to 3:04! We can do it, we've got the whole year to refine our skills, We've got to do more exercise and practice drills! Come Tuesday, the seventeenth of June, We'll no longer be in the boats from Kaohsiung! We'll be in the boats that are light and long, These are the boats from Hong Kong! It's time to get a little rest between now and then, IN a little over a week, we'll be ready again! I guess that I'll bring this poem to a close, I'll write another one some day, I suppose. Kevin and the Joeldog, 6-08-03
